GRIMM FAIRY TALES - ILLUSTRATIONS

This project consisted of creating all new artworks for a classical book that is public domain. Choosing the Grimm Fairy Tales, I began sketching and eventually creating digital renderings of my designs using Photoshop on a Surface Pro 4. I personally prefer using a tablet to draw so that I can see the whole design on the same surface that I am drawing with. I think that it gives it a more natural feel and allows me to stay true to my artistic style.

As far as the illustrations are concerned, I wanted them to have a sketchy feel without taking away from the classic storylines of the fairy tales. Overall, the style is somewhat simplistic in nature and I took the artistic liberty to not illustrate the faces to allow for imagination and creativity to stem from the minds of the readers. The goal of this publication was to create an easy to read eBook that can be used easily by the readers with new and exciting illustrations. I even decided to add cover pages to each of the stories to keep visual interest throughout the book.
